Taka
Director / Woodwind instrument specialist
Born in 1995 in Kanagawa, Japan, he graduated from Global Wind Instrument Technical Academy in Tokyo in March 2016, with a qualification of Brass & Woodwind Musical Instrument Repair degree.
He studied flute repair under a senior flute technician at the service centre of Altus Flute distributor in Japan. Also had a few lecture from the founder of Altus flute Mr Tanaka. He also studied brass instrument repair under Mr. Haido (aka - God hand Haido Koichi) who is a designer of the Jupiter XO series, and provides service to many pro brass players in Japan.
After graduating from the school, Taka was trained by one of the top saxophone repairers in Japan, Mr Odagiri, who worked at Yanagisawa as a saxophones repairer at Yanagisawa official repair workshop “Yanagisawa Cloche”, and now owns his repair workshop in Tokyo serving numerous pro players in Japan.
Taka arrived in New Zealand in 2017 and worked at DR TOOT Brass & Woodwind specialist. He had been focusing on woodwind repair there, and have had many satisfied customers all over New Zealand who comes to him especially for servicing their instruments. Since 2019, he became a senior woodwind repair specialist at DR TOOT, and looked after all the private woodwind service to their customers.
Taka plays all types of saxophones, clarinets, flute and Brass instruments. With his knowledge and playing skill, he was invited by the Saxophone pro musician Michael Jameson to join the Saxophone Summer School 2022 as one of the tutors.
Also, Taka is part of the Cosmos Saxophone Quartet and plays the soprano saxophone there, which the band was awarded a Gold Award at the NZCBA festival in 2021, as well as the "Royal New Zealand Air Force Band Award" for Outstanding Performance by an ensemble.
With these musical experiences and expertise, Taka was able to help many customers in resolving their concerns from a technician’s point as well as from a musician’s point of view.
